Salt Lake County DUI Records Overview

Salt Lake County produces more DUI records than any other Utah county. The reason is simple: more than one-third of Utah's entire population lives here. Cities like West Valley City, West Jordan, Sandy, South Jordan, Murray, Riverton, Taylorsville, Cottonwood Heights, Midvale, and South Salt Lake all fall within Salt Lake County. Each has its own police department, and DUI arrests happen across all of them throughout the year.

DUI records in Salt Lake County begin at the time of arrest. The arresting officer files a report with their agency. That report goes to the Utah Driver License Division (DLD) within five workdays. The DLD uses it to initiate an Administrative Per Se license action. The 3rd District Court then opens a criminal case file as charges are filed. Each of these records exists independently, and you may need to contact more than one office to get a complete picture of a DUI case in Salt Lake County.

Utah reported 10,923 DUI arrests statewide in fiscal year 2025. Salt Lake County likely accounts for a large share of that total due to its population density and the number of active enforcement agencies. The Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice publishes annual DUI statistics broken down by county.
